And Then We All Grew Up

when you’re a child, people around you shower you with everything colorful, talk you into believing that the world is one big home you can always run and get comfortable with. you’ll want and admire many different things. your heart is always full. and dreams always come true.

when you’re a child, life slips and spares you from pain and heartbreak. you’re contented beyond measure when you’re a child.

and then you grew up. every time you held a glass in front of you before drinking, you see yourself and wonder at the height of your heart. the once clear and concrete dream you’ve built has become hazy and seems impossible to meet. the feeling of walking barefoot in the sand with the ocean in front of you does not feel peaceful anymore. every step you take now makes you cringe. the rays of sunshine every morning are not as yellow as before. everything is black and white.

when you’re a child, everything is fun and exciting and full of hope.

and then you grew up. you learned that in order to gain more in life, you’ve got to fail a lot of times first. you learned that sadness is not always bad because being able to acknowledge your real emotions is a very brave thing.

when you’re a child, they made you believe you can do many great things in your life. but you grew up. we all grew up and we realized that not every one of us can do great things and that is alright.

growing up is harsh. growing up is hard and sad. but despite these, growing up teaches us that we do not have to always do great and big things in life, we just have to live it the best way we can. we do not have to be happy and contented and colorful all the time. growing up isn’t as perfect as portrayed to us in our childhood, but it is still beautiful nevertheless.
